A Video Editing Nightmare

I know there are people out there who wonder what happened to more than 50% of the videos I once had posted on my youtube account. Those videos, in my mind, were and will always be a part of Maladjusted Productions, a part of the canon of my maturation (however much of that has arguably happened) as an artist in a visual medium. For those who wonder, perhaps they will stumble across this blog post.

The simple fact of the matter is, I was stupid when I was just starting out, and I believed that it was okay to use copyrighted music in my videos. That’s the majority of the reason for so many being gone. A couple of my videos were stripped from Youtube BY youtube, and I took the others down that had any violations. The other reason is because I was more… free with my language in those days, and I no longer felt that it accurately represented me in any way.

That being said, there are loads of things in those videos, the master tapes of those videos, that I would love to have out there, and I would love to take a crack at editing those old things again. Re-posting them. I have hours upon hours of workable footage sitting on a shelf (quite literally), and as it is, I have nothing to edit with.

I have searched for free editing software with even the capabilities of the OLD Windows Movie Maker (the program I used to make the vast majority of my old videos), and freeware programs just don’t have the capabilities. Most of the time, they don’t even WORK once you’ve downloaded them. Oddly, the newest version of Windows Movie Maker for Windows 7 is less impressive than its ten year-old counterpart.

I am blessed enough to have friends with very nice editing software, but the drive to their respective residences is very gas-consuming. And they have lives and things to do on their own computers. I can’t go over to their places every time I need to edit something. Had I the capability, I would be editing every free second to get more content out to our subscribers and out to the community in general. And my computer simply isn’t able to handle even the $49-&100 dollar range of video editing software.

I’m getting discouraged. My head is telling me to quit, but my heart is telling me to keep trudging through the muck until I find dry land.

Trudging on,

New Challenges, New Direction, New Videos!!!

It has been quite a while since I sent out an update for the fans. Things have been stagnate at best, but rest assured that life still remains in the mal-nourished Maladjusted Productions! Money has been tight, and equipment has failed me time and again. Besides that, a Maladjusted staple, Matt Carroll has pulled his hat out of the ring to focus on his music. Those of you who are friends with him most probably know about his bands Brother Starfoot and Matt Carroll and the Browncoats as well as his open mic nights. If you don’t know, then go befriend him and find out! You won’t be sorry you did. Maladjusted Productions wishes him well, and who knows? We might see his hand at work in another video someday.

For the past few months, I have been trying to pull the pieces of Maladjusted out of the burnt embers of stagnation, and folks, I think I have a phoenix on my hands. I have in my possession a fresh stack of new scripts written by yours truly. And even some written by an eager young buck named Jason Goss. I hope you guys get to meet him soon. We have some fun ideas that are unlike anything Maladjusted Productions has done before! A new direction is coming! In the meantime, thank you for being the supportive fans that you are! Give us a boost, and suggest to your friends that they like Maladjusted Productions!

Suicide

Hello, everyone!

So the rumors are true. We have rearranged the den to make room for it.: THE GREEN SCREEN (cue heavenly choir)! If you’re wondering where I’ve been, my computer committed suicide about a month ago, so writing has pretty much been me scribbling on one of those yellow legal pads… I’m trying to figure out what to do about a computer—I try to use Matt’s when he isn’t here… when he is, he plays WoW. There’s just nothing I can do but sit back, wait for him to hit rock bottom… he’ll only quit when he gets ready to.

Regardless, there are more videos coming. I promise. I’ve uploaded Simply Terrible Dance Moves 2 into Final Cut, and I’ve started making some decisions for re-editing our very first skit, “The Drifter”. Making sort of a directors cut of that, if you will since we, in our infinite ignorance believed we could get away with using copyrighted music throughout the entire video. Ah, to be young again!

This week, we’re filming a brand new video, but I won’t tell you what it is. I will say that it is a parody of a movie that is currently in theaters.
As for the Halloween Special, we came up with some great stuff, but it was just too expensive and time-consuming to make it for Halloween. Maybe next year?

Thank you guys for your continued support! Your comments and messages really mean a lot! When I was growing up, my mother was never one of those moms to say, “Stop encouraging him!” when I would act up. She was usually the first one laughing. So I think it’s safe to say that both she and I implore you, “Keep encouraging us!” and share us with your friends!

3 New Videos + Fan goals

Well, it’s that time of year once again: Summer is almost gone, and autumn already has its army of dead leaves awaiting their annual invasion. School is back in session… Well, it’s a depressing time. But we here at Maladjusted Productions understand that the demise of summer and return of school means that most will be looking for something to do indoors–possibly at the expense of a letter grade or two. That’s why we’re kicking it up a notch by bringing you THREE (3) BRAND SPANKING NEW VIDEOS:

Crotch Watchers
-A comedy short that answers the question, “Why do men stuff their pants?”

Man Eater
-Our first foray into green-screen technology-turned-humorous-half-minute!

Heroic Me – “Ghost and the Angel”
-A music video directed by Matt Carroll for a local band in Birmingham.

We’ve put in the work–now let us know what you think of our videos by commenting–and if youse dig, please be sure to suggest us to your friends!

Thanks for watching, and remember: THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
